Howard A. Schulder, Founder & President. Howard founded Summa in 1976, after purchasing Washington Trading Company's entire A/R and term loan portfolio. As President, Howard is actively involved in all areas of operation within the company, including new business development, underwriting, account monitoring, workouts, information technology, hiring, and capitalization. He is a member of Summa's Credit Committee.
Prior to founding Summa, Howard worked at the prominent New York City asset-based lender, Gibraltar Corporation of America, as Vice President and General Counsel from 1970 to 1976. While at Gibraltar, Howard gained valuable commercial finance experience and knowledge; conducting field examinations, soliciting new business, and conducting account monitoring and workouts.
Howard graduated from Brooklyn Law School after having obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Amy Schulder Kazanoff, Senior Vice President & General Counsel. Amy joined Summa as General Counsel in July 2006. As General Counsel, Amy handles the day to day legal aspects of the business, which include preparing the legal documentation each borrower is provided with upon funding and handling any legal issues which may arise. Amy is also involved in the day to day operations of the company, overseeing and monitoring the status of accounts, generating new business leads, and participating on the Credit Committee.
Amy is the fourth generation of her family to be a part of the asset based lending industry. Prior to joining Summa, Amy worked as an Associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP at the firm's New York and Los Angeles offices, where she represented corporate clients in complex civil litigation cases, including securities fraud, contract disputes and fiduciary duties claims. Amy also worked as an Account Executive for Lippe Taylor Public Relations in New York, NY, and Middleton & Gendron Public Relations, Inc, in New York, NY during which time she created and launched publicity campaigns for corporate clients.
Amy graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law after having obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Pennsylvania. Amy is licensed to practice law in both New York and California. She currently serves as the president of the Contemporary Credit Club.
Barry Schneck, New Business Development. Barry joined Summa in 2000 as the head of New Business Development. Barry's day to day responsibilities include the origination and funding of new business for Summa, maintaining relationships with the Company's vast network of referrals, and participating on the Credit Committee. Summa's portfolio has increased significantly under Barry's guidance and direction.
Prior to joining Summa, Barry was Vice President of Marketing in Growth Finance for Finova Capital Corporation in New York, NY. While at Finova, Barry conducted business development and provided collateral-based working capital financing, from one hundred thousand to one million dollars, primarily secured by accounts receivable for small and mid-size manufacturers, wholesale distributors, service companies and importers.
Prior to his time at Finova, Barry was President and Consultant for Financial Placement, Inc. in Montvale, NJ. From 1976 to 1999, Barry consulted and developed resources to provide financial services and offer alternative financing solutions to unique financial problems.
Barry completed graduate work in accounting at Fairleigh Dickinson University, after having received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, along with a minor in Economics and Sociology, from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
